Bir Billing – Barot Valley

Route: Delhi- Chandigarh- Una- Palampur- Bir

Total Distance to be Covered: 491km

Overnight journey in Volvo/Cab/Traveller from Delhi to Bir which will take about 10 to 11 Hours to reach. Early morning check-in in Hotel/Campsite/Homestay as per availability.

After checkin and having some rest we will explore local gems around Bir.

Local Sightseeing of Bir:

• Chokling Monastery: This is one of the most popular monasteries in Bir and houses a grand and huge stupa as well as an enthralling statue of Padmasambhava. This monastery is located in the Bir Tibetan colony.
• Landing Site in Bir: Bir Landing Site in Bir Billing, also known as Sunset Point, derives its name from the fact that the spot is used by paraglider pilots as an official landing spot.
• Sherabling Monastery: The natural beauty of this little town, with a colorful Tibetan influence, can be taken in and truly experienced by taking walks around the place.
• Deer Park Institute: The Deer Park Institute is a center for the study of classical Indian wisdom traditions where you can enroll in programs on meditation, philosophy, art and culture, Yoga and healing arts, Buddhism, and more.
• Bir Bazar: Bir Market is a streetside market with several eateries and shops. Local people and residents of the nearby areas come for utilities like food, clothing, and other items while tourists spend capital time picking up souvenirs.

After having breakfast we will proceed to Billing for the Paragliding activity( if you had booked paragliding with us the cost is 3000 pp ). Known as the Paragliding capital of India(2nd highest Paragliding Point in the World), Bir attracts adventure-seekers from throughout the country and the world. Hence, some of the best times that you might spend here might be with your feet in the air. Keep your bags ready as after paragliding we will proceed to another destination Barot Valley.

After having breakfast we will explore local gems around Barot.

Local Sightseeing of Barot:

• Walk through Shanan Hydel Project: The Shanan Hydel Project is located in the heart of the valley and is a fun edutainment spot. The Shanan powerhouse located here has colonial architecture.
• Kothi Kohar Waterfall: Absolute natural beauty at its finest. Away from the city and its pollution. Away from vehicles and their noise. You have to go trekking first and then you will reach here. Bringing spare clothes without bathing in the beautiful waterfall will leave the journey incomplete.
• Trout Fishing: Angling in the Uhl River is popular in Barot. A trout breeding center is located at a 15min walk from Uhl Barrage. Prior permission is required from the Trout Farm office.
• Dev Pashakot Temple: There is a diversion of 2 kilometers and after parking the car near the hydel plant, one needs to trek down towards the river and Pashakot Dev’s temple is on the bank of this river. This temple is located near a river at the bottom of a hill. One needs to trek down for 15 minutes, which may take 30 mins to climb up during the back journey. Temple is located in a very peaceful environment.

After having breakfast

• Lapas Waterfall: Lapas village is on the Ghatasini-Barot road and before the Barot bus stand. t is a quaint village, so don’t expect any road signs, etc. So, first trek to the village and go further to the waterfall via huge pastures and farm fields. Absolutely safe and clean path, not at all challenging. The trek will take 12-15 minutes and once the sound of the waterfall welcomes you, you will be really excited to view it.

Later in the evening, we will depart from Barot Valley.
