Barot is a mesmerizingly beautiful village located in the serene valleys of the Mandi District (67km away) in Himachal Pradesh. It is a newfound tourist destination and remains quite secluded.

It is an untouched valley that kept me enthralled from beginning to end. The place is not just for the wanderlust adventurist, but also the perfect spot for a family vacation. Surrounded by comfortable stay homes and camping sites, the valley is the picnic destination that should be on the list of anyone who plans to visit Himachal.t is the home of Monal, Wild Cats, Monkeys, and the Black Bear. Barot is also the base for trek routes to Kullu; Kangra Valleys. This area is also famous for vegetables and pulse production. It has beautiful scenery all around which attracts everyone. Thousands of tourists visit this place every year.
Barot Valley weather is relatively moderate, i.e., neither too hot in summers nor too cold in winters. The average annual temperature is close to 16°C. Barot Valley can be visited at any time of the year except for monsoons because the area receives heavy rainfall due to the surrounding dense forests. The ideal duration for staying in Barot Valley is 3n 4d days but you can explore the nearby treks for 7 days as well. Barot is a perfect weekend getaway but one can also incorporate this place into their itinerary for a Himachal tour.
There are many places to visit near Barot Valley and the following spots are considered to be the best ones if you are staying near Barot Valley. Though Barot Valley is a small place, it has a lot to offer when it comes to local sightseeing.
Barot Dam was built by the British in the early 19th century on the Ulh River. To construct the dam a trolley system on rails was constructed from Joginder Nagar to Barot Valley. It is still existing and is a masterpiece of human engineering. Water from the Barot dam was taken through an underground tunnel to the Shanon Hydel power project to move the turbines to generate electricity. It is still functional after more than 100 years. There is a cafe to sit in and enjoy meals near Barot Dam as well. You will get most of the Indian cuisine plus trout fish, noodles, and Momo.
This temple of the famous deity Shri Pashakot of Chauhar Valley is at a distance of 31km from Joginder Nagar, Himachal Pradesh in Mandi District. This is such a temple where after every 3 years, during the fair, Dev Pashakot appears in the form of a Snake in the
torn Stone ( This happens in the Temple near Tikken, Naldera ). It is believed Dev Pashakot fulfills every wish of devotees who come here. You can Visit one temple on Devta Dhank while coming to Barot, Another one ( which we are talking about here )
takes right from Tikken, there will be more than 1000 steps downwards once you reach the first gate where you will park your vehicle and the 3rd is nearby Barot Dam where a picture is displayed.
Haulage-way Trolley: Haulage-way trolley, that goes from 4,300 feet to up to 8,000 feet using cable wire and runs on the railway track. Winch Camp: Highest hill station of Joginder Nagar at 2400 meters. A trolley track goes from Winch camp (8,000 feet) to Head-gear (8,300 feet) and then haulage way descends down to Barot. The three-kilometer narrow gauge track from Winch Camp to Head Gear is the highest railway track in India (8,300 feet) and is currently non-functional.
This water is on the roadside and the nearest one to Barot Town. This has the least flow of water among others in the valley but yes good for the initial start. There is a Maggie Point just beside Waterfall.
5 . Kothikohad Waterfall
This is the most beautiful waterfall among the waterfalls around Barot Valley. Although you will have to go 11 km towards Bada Gram to locate this but is worth it. This waterfall offers Magnificent views and a short trail through the village as well if you wanna take it, there is a non-metalled road nearby the waterfall now, which makes it a more easy approach for the one who doesn’t want to walk much. There is no shop nearby, so carry your own stuff. Note: Please take away all the plastics or food items with you.
6 . Lapas Waterfall
This water is at the start of Barot Valley and has a road up to Lapas Village from a place named Boching, You can trek to this waterfall as well. There is a maggie point nearby this waterfall. Although if you go by your own vehicle still you have to walk for
more than half a km downhill to reach the waterfall point.
7. Bada Gram
This village lies towards the way Bir Billing and is well connected by Road. You will get the best view of Himachali Fields, farming, Uhl River on the way along with small villages which come under Chota Bhangal. You can trek to Bir from here followed by the
Rajgundha is on the way.
8. Trout fish farm Barot
If you love Trout fish then this would be the best place to buy at affordable prices. There are rarely 3-4 places in Himachal where Trout fish available and Barot is one of them. You can also enjoy fishing in Barot. [Ban on fishing from November to February]
9. Lohardi Village
Barot to Lohardi is approximately 7.2 km but the route is scenic and the Uhl River flows all the way with you, lots of waterfalls dot the drive. There is a direct route of the Hrtc bus to Lohardi as well.

In terms of Sports, Barot offers in Camp adventure activities but there is not such a dedicated adventure sports office, but yes you can enjoy trekking and hiking in Barot Valley and you will get gear and guides there as well.
Nightlife info
Most of the dhabas, and cafes here get close around 9 Pm but yes according to demand they are operational. You will more activities going on at the Local Campsites. DAY 2 DAY campsite in Barot offers you Bonfire, Music, and Riverside experience in Barot Valley.
